Dear readers,
Our Institute is on its way! With the gracious help of Zach of Wagon Wheel Design, we have a way to donate via the website, called Zeffy. Perhaps it’s named for a zephyr, which is why our June Update is floating on a breath of air…Visit johndospassos.institute to check us out, donate, or give us a tip for a parcel of land in Westmoreland County where we could set up shop.
Now, a moment for those supporters who ask: Why land? Why not just hang out a shingle in an existing building, and get started? Well, our mission is: community, sustainability, and justice. So, part of that means building community through walking, together. There’s not much selection for places to walk in Westmoreland County, except the road, and that’s not safe.
So what about a mulched path, wide enough for four people to walk abreast, around the perimeter of 2-5 acres, where we can meet one Saturday per month, build health, and build connections?
Any of you who’ve come to a We Off the Couch run in Richmond can attest to the power of getting a move on, collectively. And that is part of the reason for a JDPI parcel of land, hard to obtain though it may be. I have a superhero realtor, Camyell Pratt (looking for a trustworthy professional to handle tricky interactions with diplomacy and efficiency? Look no further). We’ll find it, I’m sure.
Thanks you new subscribers for signing up to the Substack! You’re helping just by being out there, reading.
With appreciation, and excitement,
Lara dos Passos Coggin
